Starry Tree Garland.... a little thank you from me to you (a bonus free pattern!)

Most of you now should have your extra little gift in December's box.

I wanted to thank each one of you for supporting Secret Crochet Club enabling me to grow my micro business in a matter of just a few short months. Each month I am astounded by the positive response to each and every box I send out. Oh, and I just LOVE seeing all of your completed projects.

So as a way of saying thank you I have included a hand wound ball (see how much I love you?!) of Cygnet Boho Spirit in Mojo colourway and the free pattern below written just for Secret Crochet Club by Tiny Anaesthetist.

"When I was tasked with the opportunity to design something little for the Christmas box I was over the moon and what better encompasses Christmas than gorgeous Christmas trees and stars! I hope you have enjoyed making your Christmas Garland and I wish you all a Merry Christmas.

Love and hugs

Tiny Anaesthetist"

The Garland

The Garland is made up of 4 Christmas trees and 3 stars which are then joined together onto a chain.

Christmas Tree (Make 4)

Christmas tree garland free crochet pattern

Start with a magic ring / circle.

Round 1

Chain 3 (counts as first DC) and make 3 DC into the circle. Chain 2 and then make 4 DC into the circle. Chain 2 and make 4 DC into the circle again. Slip stitch into the top of the chain 3.

You should have 3 clusters of 4 DC

Chain 3 and turn your work.

Round 2

Make 3 DC into the chain 2 space. Chain 2 and make 4 DC into the same chain 2 space. *Chain 2, make 4 DC into the next chain 2 space, chain 2 and make 4 more DC into the same chain 2 space from row 1.* Repeat from *….* one more time.  Chain 2 and slip stitch into the top of the chain 3.

You should now have 3 clusters of 4DC separated by chain 2 in each corner, and a chain 2 separating each corner.

Chain 3 and turn your work.

Round 3.

3DC into the chain 2 space. (this is the chain 2 space that separates the corners.) Skip 1 DC (from previous row) SC into next DC.

*4DC, Chain 3, 4DC into the next chain 2 space (this is the first corner of row 3!) skip 1 DC (from previous row) SC into next DC.

4DC into the next chain 2 space, skip 1 DC (from previous row) SC into next DC.*

Repeat from *….* 2 more times.

You will find yourself back at the chain 3, slip stitch into the top of the chain 3 space.

You should have 3 corner clusters of 4 DC and a chain 3, and 3 side clusters with 4 DC in each. And 6 SC as well.

Chain 3 and turn your work

The stalk

Make 1 DC in each of the 3 DC from the row below and fasten off.

Your tree is complete!

The Star (make 3)

Christmas star garland free crochet pattern

Start with a magic ring / circle.

Round 1.

Chain 3, make 2 DC into the ring, *chain 3 and make 3 DC into the ring*.

Repeat from *…* 3 more times. Chain 3 and slip stitch into the top of the chain 3

You will now have 5 clusters of 3 DC (chain 3 counts as 1 DC) and 5 chain 3 spaces.

Chain 3 and turn your work

Round 2.

Make 2 DC into the chain 3 space. Chain 3 Make 3 DC into the same chain 3 space.

*Make 3 DC into the next chain 3 space, chain 3 and make 3 DC into the same chain 3 space.*

Repeat *….* until you have 5 clusters… (3DC, chain 3, 3DC)

Your star should look more star like.

Once you are back to the start slip stitch into the top of the chain 3 space.

Turn your work. (do not chain 3!)

Round 3.

For this round you need to make your way to a chain 3 space…. To do this you need to slip stitch in each DC till you are in the chain 3 space.

Now we are in the chain 3 space from the previous row…

Make 4 HDC, chain 3 and make 4 HDC into the chain 3 space.

Skip 3 DC from the previous row and SC into the “space” between the 3 DC and the next set of 3 DC.

Continue to make 4 HDC, chain 3 and 4 HDC in each chain 3 space. And SC in the “spaces”.

Once you have completed all the HDC points of the star. You will find yourself making your last SC into the “space” between the 3 DC clusters from the previous row (NOT THE CHAIN 3 SPACE) – Fasten off and your star is complete.

The garland chain.

Start with a slip knot.

Chain 142 (140 + 2 for turning)

HDC into the 3rd chain from the hook.  HDC into the next 8 stitches.

Remove your hook from the loop it is in.

Insert your hook into the apex of the 1st Christmas tree / star

Pick up the loop from the garland chain

Yarn over and complete the HDC

Your tree / star is now attached to the chain.

Continue along the chain making your HDC. I left 19 HDC and attached a tree or a star in every 20th space.

In the end I had 10 HDC at the start before my first tree, and 10 HDC at the end after my last tree.

I had 20 HDC between each tree and star, along the garland.

Once you reach the end of the chain fasten off.

If you want to make a longer garland feel free… !
